Different options after an apprenticeship
After completing an apprenticeship, there are often several paths to choose from. You will quickly realise that not every route suits your personal circumstances, your learning pace or your goals. That is exactly where Academia Matura comes in.
International A Levels – more focused than the adult Swiss Matura route
The traditional adult Matura or second-chance Matura route is often:
- time-intensive
- very broad in scope
- difficult to combine with work or other commitments
With International A Levels, you complete your upper secondary qualification with six carefully chosen subjects instead of 13 as in the Swiss Matura.
This means less content, clearer structures and a stronger focus on your strengths and your future study or career goals. It is therefore an efficient route to universities and universities of applied sciences in Switzerland and around the world.
An alternative to the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate and Passerelle – a realistic option
The Federal Vocational Baccalaureate generally provides access to universities of applied sciences, but not directly to universities. Anyone aiming for university afterwards must also complete the Passerelle.
For many young adults, the Passerelle is a major challenge – especially if their vocational baccalaureate was not focused on technical or scientific subjects. For many learners, this also means spending a great deal of time on subjects that do not match their actual study goals.
International A Levels offer a clearly structured alternative.
They provide access to universities and universities of applied sciences through six carefully chosen subjects that can be aligned with the degree course you want to pursue – without unnecessary detours.
